A HAUNTING ON FOX

A HAUNTING ON FOX:
Dare To Be Scared at The Good Luck Bar on Saturday 29 October

Joburg's premier #Halloween dress-up party returns on Saturday 29 October featuring two terrorific stages, frightening decor and so much more! After the huge turnout at our ‘A Haunting on Hurlingham’ party last year, the need arose to find a larger haunted venue and so we move to The Goodluck Bar at 1 Fox for ‘A Haunting on Fox’.

Boasting a phantasmagoric line-up that includes Sketchy Bongo, Kyle Watson, L.A Cruz, Kimon Rayne, Das Kapital and many more to be announced, it's the dress up party of the year where all the cool ghosts and ghouls gather. Expect the unexpected, the macabre, devilishly detailed decor, the dying wish wall, and so much more... Who will be crowned the King and Queen of our Halloween?
The venue itself holds an eerie history to add to the setting for this very scary evening. 1 Fox, where The Good Luck Bar is located, was one of the first mining camps that sprung up at the time of the discovery of gold in the 1880s, which makes you think… do some of these miners still haunt the halls and rooms of 1 Fox?

Be warned!! This party is not for the weak of heart ... Enter if you dare.

Sexpo 2016: celebrating 10 years – now bigger and better than ever!

Sexpo 2016: celebrating 10 years now bigger and better than ever!

Sexpo, Africas largest human sensuality and lifestyle expo, and one of South Africas favourite annual exhibitions, is back and its bigger and better than ever. Its 2016 incarnation sees a new date, new venue and the introduction of some new touches.

Sean Newman, managing director, Sexpo Its our tenth anniversary, so were really excited about this years Sexpo, which has been remixed, revamped and reimagined to continue to appeal to an ever-growing and seemingly insatiable market, as well as attract new visitors.

Some key changes have been effected, says Newman, all of them designed to meet current and future needs, as well as address previous input from visitors over the years. So, to start, we have a new venue. Our new home, Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, allows the entire exhibition to take place under one roof.

Were also introducing a limited access ladies-only area, a safe space where women can shop and explore their sensuality complete with wine bar away from peering eyes and male input. But, we havent forgotten the guys, either were also introducing the Ultimate Man Cave this year, a space thats dedicated to select male-interest lifestyle products; it also features a bar stocked with the finest Kraft beers on offer.

We are delighted to welcome Sexpo back to the Johannesburg Expo Centre in October, says JEC Chief Executive Officer, Craig Newman. Its a significant year for a number of reasons. The JEC has been home to Sexpo for a number of years and we have built a successful relationship with the show organisers so we are excited to host it again. Also, the Sexpo celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016.

Newman says that show fanatics can expect a bigger and better event this year, with a more sophisticated approach. The show will be classier while still delivering the same fun and excitement that fans have come to expect, he says. Of course, the Expo Centre is the perfect venue to deliver a memorable performance, as we provide ample parking space, easy access to and from the venue and multi-purpose exhibition halls, satisfying every possible show requirement. Its an event not to be missed!

This years Sexpo also sees the return of the legendary adult entertainment lounges including Teazers, Teaze-Hers, Phantasm LGBTI Lounge, Pulse Boys Lounge, Coyotes Angels Club and Theatre Erotic. Other highlights include the BDSM Play Area, informative seminars hosted in the Spartan Workshop, extreme body painting by Airvolution and Pricasso, described as the worlds most famous penile artist.

Of course the show would not be complete without local and international stars appearing at the expo. These include Frog productions and their extravaganza shows, the world famous Amateur Strip, Suzie Q Australias aerial and pole queen as well as international porn stars Jessica Drake, Vicki Chase, Tanya Tate and Bonnie Rotten.

But its not all sensual fun and high-spirited games education and health also form an integral part of the Sexpo mix.

Says Sean Newman, Sexpo is about exploring the full spectrum of the sensual side of life, rather than pure sexuality catering to all interests and tastes. Sexpo is a destination lifestyle exhibition that provides a safe space for everyone regardless of race, age or sexuality, or whether youre daring or shy. Theres something for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Popular pop boy band in India coming to South Africa

Popular pop boy band in India coming to South Africa

Dubbed as the Indian equivalent to One Direction, boy band heartthrobs, SANAM, are heading to the Centre Court at Emperors Palace on the 28th of August 2016 to perform in a must-see concert.

Having taken the Internet by storm, this popular pop-rock group can’t wait to perform in the country.  “We’re really looking forward to our first visit to South Africa and we’ve planned a power-packed show,” says Samar Puri.

The band, who rose to fame after composing renditions of Bollywood hit songs and uploading them to YouTube, consists of frontman Sanam Puri, Samar Puri on lead guitar and vocals, Venky S on bass guitar and Keshay Dhanrai on drums.

SANAM’s YouTube channel, featuring both original and cover songs, boasts over 650 000 subscribers with millions of views. With fans affectionately referred to as SANAMians, the Duaa music video, featuring Sanah Moidutty, has enjoyed a staggering 12 million views!

YouTube was a blessing.  We wanted to store some videos online so we could share them with our friends and the industry.  We didn’t have enough money to hire a team to shoot our videos or edit them.  So we decided to learn to do it on our own.  So our focus throughout was overcoming every obstacle that came our way and our dream of making music and music videos for the world to see.  We never sat to think about fame or where this would take us,”  says Puri.

Humble about their fame, the boy band describes their sound as mix of contemporary pop rock with their distinct blend of Omani and Indian musicians. SANAM’s sound is refreshingly different and this sets them apart from the rest of the Indian Indie music scene. With a string of hits, the band’s original single Main Hoon was also featured in the Indian release of Hollywood blockbuster, The Amazing Spiderman 2.
We don’t limit ourselves to one style of music.  We just want to keep putting out good music and keep our listeners happy,” says Sanam.  “Each of us has different musical inspirations and the blend of all our styles is evident in the music we create,” adds Keshav.

Originally known as The SQS Project and SQS Supastars, the talented youngsters changed their name to SANAM in 2014. Samar, Venky and Sanam attended the same school where they started the band. After school Sanam and Samar moved to Mumbai to pursue their musical dreams and was later introduced to Keshav, where they formed The SQS Project. In May 2010, Times Music launched a nationwide search for a pop band in India. Out of the thousands of entries, The SQS Project won the hearts of the nation. The trio reunited with Venky for the finals and the SQS Supastars were born, and went on to win the coveted title. The band released their first album, Supastars and later released music videos of their songs Hawa Hawa and Bekha.
SANAM is set to take fans, young and old, on an unforgettable musical journey.  Tickets are available from R200 per person and can be booked through Computicket or through the Emperors Palace Box Office on 011 928 1297/1213.  Emperors Palace is a Peermont Resort.  Connect with them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter @emperorspalalace.

Enjoy the latest rendition of SANAM’s super hit song Hai Apna Dil To Awara from the 1958 movie Solva Saal (with over 1 million views!):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlgkMXex2DI.

Another production brought to you by Blu Blood in association with Star Plus and Dabur Miswaak.

“Star Plus is proud to present for the first time ever, SANAM in concert in South Africa.  Star Plus offers premium entertainment with its award winning content and is happy to bring entertainment in an innovative format to viewers in South Africa,” concludes Star International President, Gurjeev Singh Kapoor.
