A feast of Chutney, Bhojpuri and Nagara to kick off July

July kicks off with a feast of Chutney, Bhojpuri and Nagara music at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom’s iZulu Theatre on 1 and 2 July 2017. The lively musical showcase is presented by the Northcroft Hindu Prayer Committee and features a talented cast of South African artists including Reka Sarjoo, Vinesh Pooran and Kameel Chanlall.

The showcase also features original music and dances by Kem Chanlall and friends; with music backed by the Sargam Geet Show Band, complemented by dances by the ever popular Shiksha`s Dance Academy. Chanlall, a household name in Chutney, Bhojpuri and Bhajans, is internationally recognized for his stunning music videos for "Buy me a box of matches” and “Rimmi Jimmi". He has released 13 albums to date and is a versatile artist who has performed in IsiZulu, Hindi, Tamil and English.

According to Janet Pillay, the PR and Promotions Manager at Sibaya, the show burgeons with highlights such as new pachera’s written, composed and sung by Chanlall; supported by the “rhythm king of South Africa”, Vishen Kemraj on Nagara, Dholak and Thabla.

“Guests will also get to listen to Jugalbandi’s and Sargams in Chutney and Nagara music for the first time in South Africa. This is a family friendly show that will have music fans enthralled.”
The show is hosted by Pranesh Maharaj and Anesh Dusrath. This duo will have audiences in stitches with their side splitting comedy.

The shows take place at 18h00 on the Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost R150 and R200 at Computicket or the Sibaya Box Office.
