Die Heuwels Fantasties, Laurika Rauch, Jo Black and Loki Rothman live at the Grand Arena



GrandWest proudly hosts an ensemble of beloved local artists for a rare music event, Liefde by die Arena, at the Grand Arena on 14 July 2017. The celebrated artists lighting up the stage for the one night only show are Die Heuwels Fantasties, Laurika Rauch, Jo Black, and Loki Rothman. Each of the artists brings a unique blend of music style and personality to the show.Tickets are available at Computicket and are priced from R160 person.

“Authentic South African music and great variety are promised with Liefde by die Arena. This is a special collaboration of diverse artists that Afrikaans music enthusiasts should appreciate,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest.

Prolific South African alternative pop rock band, Die Heuwels Fantasties, will perform some of their popular early hits as well as new material from their latest album Ja.Nee.Lekker. The band, from Bellville, Cape Town, is one of the country’s first successful Afrikaans electronic acts and has won numerous awards for their music and music videos.

Rauch became a household name in South Africa almost overnight following the release of her song “Kinders van die Wind”. Her first album, Debuut, was released the same year, 1979. Since then, Rauch has released about 23 albums, including compilation albums. During her career, she has received numerous awards amongst which include a medal of honour awarded by the South African Academy for Arts and Science for her contribution to light Afrikaans music in 1997.

Black is a fast rising singer whose first song, “Skepe”, went viral internationally in 2016 despite being in Afrikaans. He later released his debut album, Skepe, featuring tracks such as "Bring Die Hoop Weer Terug" and "Bloed En Vlees". He also started an initiative Be that Guy that saw him engaging with more than 150 schools in an effort to create a chain of honour, ethics, respect and integrity among the youth.

Rothman is a guitar virtuoso who entered the music scene as a top six contestant in the first season of the television reality show, SA’s Got Talent. He has travelled the world extensively as Jack Parow’s guitarist and has worked with some of the country’s top bands including Die Antwoord and Toya Delazy. He released two albums in 2015; The Way Back, and a guitar instrumental DVD, Syndactyly.
