The news about the DStv Delicious International Food &
Music Festival, brought to you by Liberty just gets better! Now Soul II Soul will join other legendary
international artists on stage in what is touted as one of the hottest
festivals in the country. Soul II Soul will perform on Sunday 8 October at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
The group will join an already impressive line-up of
artists at the festival including international heavyweights Common,
Imagination featuring Leee John, Alexander O'Neal, Omar and Femi Kuti as well
as local talent Hugh Masekela, songstress Thandiswa Mazwai, and Black Coffee
live with band.
Soul II Soul, led by producer/vocalist/songwriter and DJ,
Jazzie B, became one of the most innovative dance/R&B bands in the late
'80s. The outfit’s third single, “Keep on Movin”, featuring the vocals of Caron
Wheeler, reached the UK Top Ten in March 1989. “Back to Life” became their
first number one hit and the band released its debut album, Club ClassicsVol.
One, shortly afterward.
The group has won two Grammy Awards and has been nominated
for five Brit Awards, twice for Best British Group. Wheeler left the group
before the recording of the group's second album, Vol. 2: 1990 — A New Decade,
which debuted at number one in the UK. She reunited with Jazzie B in 2007, with
a break between from 2010 to 2013. The group recorded its second live album,
Origins, in December last year.
