All girl top six in 2017 GrandWest Open Mic Jazz competition finals


It is an all girl finale for the 2017 GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition at the Market Hall, GrandWest on Wednesday, 20 September 2017. The ninth annual edition of the popular competition is now almost at a close, with the top six announced at the semi final event held at the Market Hall, GrandWest last night, 18 September 2017. They are Ruby Truter, Caitlin Farmer, Lauren Hendricks, Naledi Masilo, Sisanda Myataza and Gugu Duma.

These talented performers will have their last chance to shine on stage at the grand finale. They will be vying for top positions, with prizes worth over R100 00 to be awarded to the top three.  The final event promises a night of soul lifting, energetic entertainment by the aspiring jazz singers who have put on remarkable shows during each nail biting stage of the competition which started 9 August 2017.

GrandWest wishes the top six the very best of luck for the last stage of the competition on 20 September 2017. Family and friends are urged to be at the grand finale which starts at 20h00.

Over the years, the 2017 GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition has grown to become an anticipated and respected platform for showcasing and indentifying emerging talent. The competition is open to emerging jazz vocalists over the age of 18. During the course of the competition, the judges have focused on vocal technique, song interpretation, stage presence and audience response.
