Experience a bit of Broadway at GrandWest, see The Full Monty

The legendary, highly successful Broadway musical, The Full Monty, springs to life at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest in November 2017 in celebration of the film adaption’s 20th anniversary. The production, starring a talented South African cast, is based on the hit musical by playwright and screenwriter, Terence McNally. It is the humorous and oftentimes touching story of six out of work and out of shape men who have families to support and bills to pay.

As in the movie which captivated audiences in 1997, the cast of the stage show are desperate to make some money.  After noticing a group of male strippers making substantial amounts of cash, they come up with a bold and crazy plan to go “the full monty” for one night only.  The men think they have nothing to lose but their clothes, but they do not realise how their plan will leave them exposed both physically and emotionally.

The Full Monty is a pop rock comedy full of heart.  It is about overcoming gender prejudices, insecurities and fears of inadequacy as the men eventually find strength in each other.  It is also about the women in their lives who love them and cheer them on.

Laura Bosman directs an award winning cast in this heartwarming musical that will keep audiences wondering right until the end if the six lovable misfits will really go all the way.  Musical direction is provided by the talented Barend van der Westhuizen.

The Full Monty can be seen at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest, from 10 to 25 November 2017.  Performances are Wednesdays to Saturdays at 19h30.  Tickets are R130 each and can be booked at Quicket.co.za.  The show contains some strong language and adult themes and is not recommended for children 13 years of age or younger.
