See winners past and present shine again at OMJazz Showcase

On the back of the announcement of the winners of the 2017 GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition at the all girl finale on 20 September 2017, GrandWest has confirmed the inaugural OMJazz Showcase featuring this year’s winners and past winners.

2017 GrandWest Open Mic Jazz winner Ruby Truter and the runners up, Sisanda Myataza and Naledi Masilo, will get to perform live alongside the likes of Austin Lee Jacobs, Sade Ross, Candice Thornton and Sandile Gontsana at the OMJazz Showcase on 6 October 2017 and Adelia Douw, Austin Lee Jacobs and Candice Thornton on 7 October 2017. Both showcases will take place at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest.

“After nine years, the GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition is considered a credible platform for unearthing and acknowledging emerging jazz singing talent. It will be wonderful to celebrate our past and present winners at the first OMJazz Showcase,” says Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest.

Bev Scott-Brown, the producer of the annual GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition, says: “This competition is firmly embedded in our jazz musical development in Cape Town. It is time to revisit our past winners and catch up with their progress. Our supporters are passionate about these singers, so it is time for an update.”

OMJazz Showcase takes place at 20h00 on 6 October 2017 and at 20h30 on 7 October 2017. There are limited seats available so book now to avoid disappointment. Tickets are R125 per person at Computicket.
