The official Miss South Africa 2018 regional competition comes to the Western Cape this week as part of the not-to-be-missed Women360 Expo, a tribute to the latest trends in various aspects of a woman’s life that takes place at Cape Town’s GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, Sun Park; from Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18.
 
Local icon and Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss will be making a special appearance as part of the panel of judges responsible for the intricate task of determining the regional finalists.
 
The Women360 Expo kicks off at 16h00 on the Friday with a spectacular night of fashion where up-and-coming Western Cape designers will show off their collections as they vie for the opportunity to become part of a select group of designers that will dress Miss South Africa 2018 during her year of reign.
 
On Saturday doors open at 10h00 for a host of informative and empowering talks and discussions.
 
There are also two Miss South Africa 2018 workshops, with panellists including acclaimed pageant coach and Miss SA creative director Werner Wessels, catwalk expert Andiswa Manxiwa, current Miss South Africa Dr Adè van Heerden, Gareth Flusk (Sun International and the Miss SA Organisation) and Suzette van der Merwe (Miss SA Organisation and Miss South Africa, 1990).
 
All those entering the 2018 competition or who have any interest in pageants are encouraged to attend.
 
Speakers focusing on health and wellness include biokineticist Letshego Zulu, who will be discussing fitness and healthy living, and celebrity chef Siba Mtongana who will give tips in making every day healthy food choices.
 
Cindy Nell-Roberts will share her journey and provide valuable insights into how she leveraged the opportunity of becoming Miss South Africa in 2002 while make-up expert Gina Myers reveals the innermost secrets and tricks of the trade.
 
Other speakers to look forward to include leading social media law expert, Emma Sadleir, who will point out the pitfalls of being online, how to protect yourself and be digitally savvy as well as Mark Grobbelaar, a 6th Dan karate expert and creator of the acclaimed Women INPowered (WIP), who will give a demonstration from his courses which empower women with tools to help them deal with life-threatening situations.
 
The day will end with a workshop, organised by the Miss South Africa Organisation, specially targeting those interested in entering Miss South Africa.
 
The Miss South Africa Western Cape regional competition adjudication will take place on the Sunday (March 17) from 10h00 with pageant judges Flusk and Van der Merwe, along with Bokang Montjane (Miss South Africa 2010), radio presenter and TV personality Anele Mdoda as well as Miss World 2014, Rolene Strauss.
 
Says Van der Merwe: “2018 is a very special year for us as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Miss South Africa pageant, and to mark this occasion, the regional competition will be open to the public for the very first time - so make sure you get your tickets.

The Women 360 Expo is open on Friday from 16h00 to 22h00Saturday from 10h00 to 20h30 and on Sunday from 10h00 to 17h00. Tickets are available at R60 from www.ticketpros.co.za.
 
Miss South Africa 2018 will be crowned on May 27 - at the pageant’s diamond jubilee - which will be held at Sun International’s new flagship Time Square Sun Arena in Menlyn, Pretoria.
